In this episode, Jason and Shelby Scheer finished up the second part of the Arizona football mailbag in which we answer questions from members of WildcatAuthority.
The podcast contains the following questions with in-depth answers:
* Pmerlihan: What 3 games will make or break Arizona’s season?
The games that determine Arizona’s postseason eligibility will be the ones that Arizona is favored in. The Wildcats need to be able to defeat teams like Stanford, Colorado, Arizona State, and others in order to be able to make a bowl game.
* Hollywoodcat: Do you feel our run defense will be adequate? Might we start to have a pass rush?
We discuss the improvement that Arizona made to its defensive line and how we expect it to help the defense overall. There will need to be players that make a jump from last season, but we would be surprised if there wasn’t improvement, especially considering how poorly the defense played last season.
* SuggRich: Is Fisch that good with recruiting/ recruiting quarterbacks specifically? How do we keep the all this talent happy for which there is only one starting position spot for?
Arizona runs an offense that is friendly to quarterbacks while also having a head coach that likes to work closely with his signal callers. We discuss how this could help Arizona with recruiting and what the future of the position may look like at Arizona.
* Mandofosho: Who would you like to see take that jump from their freshman year to their sophomore year?
There are multiple players that could be the answer here. Isaiah Ward comes to mind because people aren’t expecting him to play a ton and as of now there is a legitimate chance he would be one of the starters at defensive end.

* Cpking: Finally do you think JDL will have a good enough offensive line and have improved enough to reach the top group of QBs in the PAC-12.
We make the case for JDL already being in that group while also discussing the state of the offensive line for this season.
* Andrest: Where are we at with O line transfers? Anyone incoming or are we just going to wait for Pulido? Do you think Michael Wiley will have an NFL worthy year? Where does he look compared to last year this time? Any under the radar Jacob Manu type picks for next year? Incoming freshman or second year breakout stars that aren’t obvious picks?
As of now, there aren’t any clear offensive line transfers, but Arizona works the portal quietly and that could quickly change. As for Wiley, he has the ability to make a NFL roster, but it will take major work. We do expect him to at least get a shot with a NFL team in camp.
