Bill Gates peeks into the future! What he REALLY wants to know from a Time Traveller? Details
Bill Gates, the co-founder and former CEO of Microsoft, has been vocal about the importance of global health and development in today’s world. Recently, Gates shared that if he could ask a question to a time traveler from the year 2100, it wouldn’t be about technology but rather about the well-being of humanity.
“In the end, it’s all measured through human welfare,” Gates emphasized in a recent episode of his podcast, “Unconfuse Me.”
As per TOI report, Gates stated that he would inquire about energy production and artificial intelligence (AI) developments in the future.
“How are you generating energy? Is it fusion or fission or some unexpected thing?” he pondered. Gates has long championed fusion and fission as promising clean energy sources and even co-founded the nuclear energy startup TerraPower in 2006.
He also expressed curiosity about how AI technology was either aiding societal advancements or being managed as a potential challenge.
As per TOI report, Gates sees AI as a tool to benefit the working class, as he discussed with comedian Trevor Noah. He envisions a future where AI technology could afford people who currently work long hours more leisure time.
“There could one day be a time when humans don’t have to work so hard,” Gates mused. He elaborated on a potential scenario where “machines can make all the food and the stuff,” freeing up humans from demanding work schedules.
The shift towards philanthropy post-retirement for Gates was spurred by a poignant incident in 1997. He recounted reading about children dying from curable diseases in various parts of the world, a realization that led him to focus on health challenges and humanitarian efforts.
“I had a long period from about age 18 to 40 where I was very monomaniacal. Microsoft was everything,” Gates reflected on his earlier years. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to explore global health issues and gain insights into why children were dying as he transitioned away from Microsoft leadership.
Gates’s journey from tech titan to philanthropic advocate underscores his commitment to addressing pressing global issues and improving the human condition through both technological innovation and humanitarian efforts.
