XFS Global LLC said it bought the assets of Creative Tent International and moved its manufacturing infrastructure from Las Vegas to Natural Bridge Station. XFS has leased 34,000 square feet in an industrial building on Douglas Way, Cushman & Wakefield/Thalhimer said.

Jacob Furbee, president and CEO, said he is hiring five people, three in production and two in administration, on top of about 40 people who work at XFS, with more job openings to come.

“We’re bringing jobs to the community,” he said.

The business produces tents — semi-permanent, preengineered fabric shelter systems — for military and commercial applications. It sells versions large enough to hold a plane or small enough to house a command post. The buildings come with HVAC equipment, insulation, floors and lights and installation if the purchaser wants.

XFS is providing a Texas customer a large white-and-gray shelter for a church. A defense subcontractor will get three tan shelters heading to an unknown destination, Furbee said.

Furbee served eight years in the Marine Corps and was deployed to Iraq twice, he said. He is joined by his vice president, Paul Wilcox, also a veteran of the Marines and who served in Iraq and Afghanistan. By way of business background, Furbee said he worked for a fabric shelter enterprise that once operated in the area but no longer does, and is getting back into the shelter industry with help from a private equity firm that assisted with the formation of XFS in September and the purchase of assets in October. A ribbon-cutting is planned Dec. 6.
