MADISON, Ill. – For the second year in a row and the sixth time in 13 years, SIUE golf is champion at its own home tournament. The Cougars finished at 837 (277-276-284) to best a field of 18 teams at Gateway National Golf Links.
Wichita State finished four strokes back of SIUE at 841 (-11). Bradley was third at 846 (-6).
Brady Kaufmann finished second of 98 golfers, earning the highest finish of his career. It is his eighth career top 10 finish. With scores of 68-68-67 (203) he also broke the school record for career rounds in the 60s.
Alex Eickhoff finished fifth at 207 (-6), one short of his career low for 54 holes. Brent Reintjes finished 15th at 210 (-3). Preston Bily tied for 44th at 219. Max Bruening tied for 56th at 222.
SIUE also had four individuals playing: Will Simpson tied for 44th at 219. Parker Bruening tied for 62nd at 223. Hayden Moore tied for 79th at 228. Thomas Hereau finished at 240 to tie for 96th.
Bradley’s Connor Hamm earned Individual Medalist honors with a 200, which is the third lowest 54-hole total in history of the tournament.
The Cougars continue their fall schedule at UT Martin’s Grover Page Monday and Tuesday.
