Ella May Tiller,95, a cherished member of the South Dayton, NY community, passed away peacefully on November 17, 2023, at the age of 95.
Born in the nearby town of Villenova, NY on May 16, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Carrie (Butcher) and Ernest Jones.
A life of service and dedication to her familymarked Ella’s years, brightening the lives of many through her love and care.
Ella May was the beloved wife of the late Lee Tiller and predeceased by son James Luce and siblings Alan, Ernest, and Wayne Jones.
She is survived by her loving family, which includes daughter Roberta (Late Paul) Sawyer, step-children Robert (Linda) and Ronald (Patty) Tiller, sisters Iva Lipton, Mary Vetter, and Katherine Taggart, and brother Miles Jones. Ella was also a proud grandmother, with her legacy carried on by grand- children Andrew (Marcie) Sawyer and Duane (Tina) Sawyer, Great Grandchildren-Daniel, Cody, Brandon, Brianna and Hunter and 6 Great Great Grandchildren. She is fondly remembered by countless nieces, nephews, and cousins who were touched by her kindness and warmth.
Graduating from South Dayton High School, Ella utilized her dedication and nurturing spirit in her career as a dietician at JN Adams in Perrysburg and as an active member in the Villenova Grange. Her community respected and admired her commitment to improving the well-being of those around her.
Outside of her professional life, Ella found an oasis of joy in her hobbies. She was an avid seamstress, always willing to mend a tear or create something beautiful. Bird watching was another activity she loved, mirroring her spirit of independence and freedom. Most importantly, she cherished spending time with her friends and family, creating a lifetime of cherished memories.
Remembering Ella’s remarkable life, the continued stories and the beautiful memories she bestowed upon her loved ones make her indelible mark on the community everlasting. May her soul find eternal peace and serenity, and her memory be a guiding light for all in times of need.
Relatives and friends may visit DiStasio Funeral Home 478 Route 83 at Balcom Corners South Dayton, NY Wednesday November 22, 2023 from 11AM to 1PM where a funeral service will immediately follow with Wes Tessy Officiating. Interment will be in Villenova Cemetery.
