PARKERSBURG — Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Parkersburg this month has opened 29 new private rooms to treat patients in need of a hospital-level of care for rehabilitation services.
The hospital at 3 Western Hills Drive will now include 45 beds with 29 private rooms and eight semi-private rooms.
Encompass Health also will undergo a full renovation and add new services in a three-phase construction project, allowing the hospital to remain fully functional until its completion by the end of 2023.
Upon the completion of the renovation, the hospital will be equipped with 50 private rooms, two new bariatric rooms and an in-house dialysis suite. In addition, all existing areas of the hospital will be renovated, including resurfacing of the parking lot and a new courtyard.
Since opening in 1995, Encompass Health of Parkersburg has helped more than 29,000 patients gain greater confidence and independence to return to the people and activities they love most, said Nathan Ford, CEO of Encompass Health of Parkersburg.

“Our hospital has served as a pillar in the care continuum for those who need rehabilitation after a serious illness and injury, and this expansion will allow us to meet the needs of more individuals with additional beds and services,” Ford said. “We are honored that so many patients choose our hospital for their rehabilitation needs, and we look forward to continuing to serve individuals in the Parkersburg community and beyond for many years to come.”
Encompass Health serves patients recovering from debilitating illnesses and injuries including strokes, amputations, brain injuries, spinal cord injuries and other complex neurological and orthopedic conditions. The multidisciplinary rehabilitation team includes physicians, registered nurses, case managers, and dieticians, who combine the latest technologies and individualized treatment plans to help patients progress toward independence.
Patients receive at least three hours of therapy five days per week.
An an open house of the newly expanded and renovated hospital is planned in late 2023 after all construction is complete.
