An early morning fire in the area of Madison Avenue and Mill Street in Kitchener is being treated as suspicious.
On Sunday, around 1 a.m., the Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS) reports emergency services responded to a fire at the rear of a business.
There were no injuries reported, police said.
Around 12:20 p.m., the Office of the Ontario Fire Marshal (OFM) was on scene.
According to the WRPS, of the 268 fires police have responded to this year, this is the 39th being treated as suspicious.
Data provided by WRPS shows while the number of fires crews have responded to has increased this year, the number of suspicious fires being investigated is down.
Over the same time frame in 2022, WRPS said police responded to 277 fires, of which 36 were classified as suspicious.
