The searing heat and humidity of the Qatar summer has failed to dampen the enthusiasm of the regular visitors to Rawdat Al Khail (Al Muntazah) Park in the heart of Doha, an easily accessible spot for a leisurely stroll, relaxed evening or fitness workouts. Spread across 140,000sq m, it is one of the oldest parks in Doha serving a number of areas. The fitness equipment in the park is put to good use by a number of people on a regular basis, irrespective of the weather.
Developed and upgraded by the Supervisory Committee of Beautification of Roads & Public Places in co-operation with the Ministry of Municipality, and opened in April 2022, the park caters to all age groups and includes various recreational and sports facilities, as well as perennial trees representing both modernity and heritage.
The park includes a 1,183m pedestrian path, a 1,119m running track, and a 1,118m cycling track, green areas covering an area of 98,000sq m and 1,600 trees. There are also two dedicated play areas for children, including those with special needs. Further, the park has bicycle stands, bike rental shop, food kiosks, areas for barbecue, as well as a good number of seats. PICTURES: Shaji Kayamkulam.
