Former first-round running back retires after 6 NFL seasons
Oft-injured NFL running back Rashaad Penny is hanging up the cleats.
A former first round pick by the Seattle Seahawks in 2018, he spent six seasons in the league, but injuries kept him from playing on a consistent basis.
He played for the Philadelphia Eagles in 2023, but appeared in just three games and rushed 11 times for 33 yards
He signed with the Panthers in May, but Carolina placed the 28-year-old on the reserve/retired list on Tuesday.
His best season came in 2021 when he rushed 119 times for 749 yards and six touchdowns. In total, he ran for 1,951 yards and 13 touchdowns in 45 NFL games.
To fill his roster spot, the Panthers signed wide receiver Tayvion Robinson. An undrafted rookie from Kentucky, he was in Ravens camp earlier this spring.
