WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) – Here’s your chance to win money and help residents at Ives Hill Retirement Community in Watertown.
The 5th Annual Golf Ball Drop is coming up on August 21 and Johnny Tunstall and Karen Jorden appeared on 7 News at Noon on Monday to talk about it.
The Watertown Fire Department comes by Ives with a ladder truck and lifts thousands of golf balls into the air and then drops them. The golf ball landing closest to the hole wins.
Last year’s winner won over $2,000. Second place won $1,000.
People can buy golf balls ranging from $5 for one to $100 for 35. Event organizers will be selling balls at this Wednesday’s farmers market in Watertown.
Money raised from the event will be used on projects to assist residents in the retirement community.
