COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) – The Holiday season is approaching and with Cyber Monday just around the corner, many people will start receiving more packages than usual.
This influx of packages can lead to more porch pirates.
The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) has some tips on how you can keep your shipments safe.
CSPD says that using package lockers, like Amazon lockers, can provide a secure holding spot for packages until you can retrieve them.
CSPD also suggests having packages delivered to your workplace or a trusted neighbor helps limit the amount of time a package sits outside. They also recommend requiring a signature for delivery.
CSPD recommends installing security cams and prominently displaying signs indicating the presence of surveillance. They say this can act as a deterrent.
Finally, CSPD says to track your package and use delivery alerts so you know when your package arrives.
