1.35 Ascot – Dubai Duty Free Full of Surprises Classified Stakes (7f)
ORBAAN scored for the first time this season when he landed the Golden Mile Handicap at Glorious Goodwood, beating 17 rivals. David O’Meara’s runner won that race with plenty in hand so take him to defy this 8lb rise in the ratings to successfully follow up in the hands of Irish jockey Neil Callan.
Selection: Orbaan @ 13/8 with Paddy Power
2.10 Ascot – Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup Dash (5f)
After a brave front-running performance, KING OF STARS was just headed inside the final 100 yards at Ascot last time out over this distance. Another big run can be expected from Michael Appleby’s gelding, who will be partnered this time by one of the leading Japanese riders, Takeshi Yokoyama.
Selection: King Of Stars @ 5/1 with Paddy Power
2.25 Haydock – Betfred ‘Play Fred’s £5million’ Handicap (1m)
MR McCANN has had three tough assignments this season, with two runs in group company and a large field for the Britannia Stakes at Royal Ascot. Hugo Palmer’s runner is now back down to his last winning mark, which gives him a great chance of getting himself back into the winner’s enclosure.
Selection: Mr McCann @ 6/1 with Paddy Power
2.45 Ascot – Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup Stayers (2m)
With two wins and two seconds to his name this season, SUPER SUPERJACK has been in excellent form. One of those victories came over course and distance in May, and the five-year-old drops back to 2m after just missing out by less than a length in the Goodwood Handicap (2m 4½f). There are likely to be more wins left in him this year.
Selection: Super Superjack @ 2/1 with Paddy Power
3.00 Haydock – Betfred Rose of Lancaster Stakes (Group 3, 1m)
ANMAAT races in group company for the first time after surging up the ratings over the past 12 months. He stayed on strongly over this distance at York last month to prevail in the John Smith’s Cup Handicap on his seasonal reappearance, looks open to further improvement and can land the feature race on the card at the Merseyside circuit.
Selection: Anmaat @ 5/1 with Paddy Power
3.20 Ascot – Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup Challenge (1m 4f)
Charging Thunder and Pride Of Priory are both on for hat-tricks but will find this much tougher off their latest marks. A gelding who is going the opposite direction in the ratings is CELTIC ART. He fared like he needed the run on his opening appearance of the campaign at Salisbury, but expect to see much more this time around from the distance winner under Takeshi Yokoyama.
Selection: Celtic Art @ 8/1 with Paddy Power
3.40 Newmarket – Jewson Sweet Solera Stakes (Group 3, 7f)
ALSEYOOB scored over course and distance on her debut last month, when she made all and showed no signs of inexperience. This is obviously a step up in class, but her connections clearly think a lot about the daughter of Lope De Vega, who can keep up her 100 per cent record.
Selection: Alseyoob @ 6/1 with Paddy Power
3.55 Ascot – Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup Mile (1m)
William Haggas’s gelding MONTASSIB began his career with four consecutive victories. He has been beaten on his previous two appearances from this mark, but has run well on both occasions in large fields. The four-year-old has just nine rivals to beat here, and he should appreciate the step up 1m.
Selection: Montassib @ 5/2 with Paddy Power
4.15 The Curragh – Keeneland Phoenix Stakes (Group 1, 6f)
BRADSELL looked the real deal when he won a strong renewal of the Group 2 Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot in June. Archie Watson’s colt takes on the Ballydoyle pair of Little Big Bear and Blackbeard here and can reward his connections for making the trip across to Ireland.
Selection: Bradsell @ 7/4 with Paddy Power
4.30 Ascot – Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup Classic (1m 4f)
It is hard to believe that BERKSHIRE BREEZE remains a maiden. He has come so close on numerous occasions to a first win, including his last two outings where he has been beaten by a neck and a head. The Mastercraftsman colt deserves to get his nose in front and this is his chance to do so.
Selection: Berkshire Breeze @ 3/1 with Paddy Power
5.05 Ascot – Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup Sprint (6f)
SPANGLED MAC is bidding to extend his winning run to five races. The red-hot sprinter has gone up 6lb in the ratings but remains open to improvement and is the one they all have to beat again.
Selection: Spangled Mac @ 4/1 with Paddy Power
