A busy Friday of racing action across Britain and Ireland encompasses seven meetings and 50 races.
Flat racing comes from Bath (1.40-6.05pm), Goodwood (1.50-5.20) and Haydock (2.05-5.30) in the afternoon with evening cards at The Curragh (4.50-8.30) and Pontefract (6.25-8.55). There’s evening jump racing from Limerick (5.10-8.15) and Worcester (5.40-8.40).
Friday’s nap was a debut winner for John and Thady Gosden last month at Haydock and that shrewd team have wasted no time stepping him up in grade.
Enda McElhinney’s picks for Friday are below. Scroll down to read the expert analysis behind them.

Three of the seven runners in this 1m 3f contest won last time out, including George Boughey’s Tempered Soul and Galileo colt Klondike for William Haggas. They can go well, while Hadrianus is the mount of Frankie Dettori for Charlie Johnston and could easily bounce back from a disappointing run in the Chester Vase behind Arrest, one of the leading contenders for the Derby.
They are overlooked in favour of John and Thady Gosden’s GREGORY, a promising colt by Golden Horn. Despite a slow start on his debut at Haydock, he readily went by previous winners If Not Now and Knockbrex to make a winning start to his career last month. The third home won decisively next time in a Sandown handicap, while the runner-up ran well in a good contest at York’s Dante Meeting.
Rab Havlin was on board for that debut success four weeks ago and retains the ride now. He has lots of potential and may provide the Gosden family with a sixth win in this Goodwood contest.
Selection: Gregory @ SP with Paddy Power
Jessica Harrington’s Snowcapped has won both starts this season and the Churchill filly could have more to offer as she returns to this mile trip, but she has gone up 11lb for her victory at this course at the start of the month and will almost certainly need another step forward now.
Preference goes to BELLAPHINA, a filly by James Garfield who created a good impression last month on her return from 254 days out when winning a maiden at Limerick (7f, yielding to soft).
She had shaped with promise in two runs at Leopardstown last summer, both over 7f, and was much improved on that when staying on late under Conor Maxwell.
The manner of the success certainly gives rise to the idea she will be effective at this longer trip and she might not be badly treated off an opening mark of 82.
Selection: Bellaphina @ SP with Paddy Power
Bear A Hand (third) and Boundsy Boy (fourth) come into the reckoning on their recent efforts at Uttoxeter (2m, soft). The latter is much better off on the revised terms and that’s before allowing for Toby Wynne claiming 5lb, so he may turn things around with his old foe now.
The fly in the ointment could be ROYAL MAX for Nicky Henderson. He is 0-3 over hurdles but showed promise at Ludlow and Wincanton prior to being well beaten off at Kempton this month.
He was a 28/1 poke in that novice contest and the form has had a few boosts since, so the Seven Barrows inmate is worth getting onside with now that he turns his attention to handicapping off this mark of just 97. Note that Nico de Boinville makes the journey to Worcester for just this one ride.
Selection: Royal Max @ SP with Paddy Power
