The ITV Racing team has an intensive offering on Saturday afternoon with no less than 10 contests from four venues in three hours.
Haydock is the main course, with five live races including the Sandy Lane and Temple Stakes, and there are a brace each from Goodwood and York alongside the Irish 2,000 Guineas at the Curragh.
The action is comprehensively covered live on ITV4 from 1pm to 4pm, and our racing expert has selections for every race broadcast.
Enda McElhinney has recommendations for all 10 contests on Saturday. You can read the analysis behind his selections below.

Auld Toon Loon produced his best effort yet when runner-up on handicap debut at Wetherby 11 days ago and there is the prospect of more to come now he is upped further in trip, a scenario in which he will be hard to beat. But IN THE BREEZE was a good third recently at Windsor over 1m 2f and may well have got closer had he not met traffic woes.
Selection: In The Breeze @ SP with Betfair
El Drama and FRANCESCO CLEMENTE are both rated 112 coming into this contest. The former has race fitness on his side but John and Thady Gosden’s son of Dubawi won three from three last season, latterly when readily accounting for a pair of next-time-out winners at Newmarket in July in a wide-margin win. He retains plenty of potential for better and merits a return in this grade.
Selection: Francesco Clemente @ 11/8 with Betfair
CARZOLA has positively thrived since rising to this two-mile trip as he landed wins at Lingfield twice on the Polytrack before this month’s canter around Doncaster. The assessor has bumped him up 10lb for that six-length win but it may not be sufficient to stop him scoring, with Frankie Dettori on board for the first time.
Selection: Carzola @ 7/4 with Betfair
Tafreej and Seeking Gold lurk as unexposed contenders with plenty of scope for improvement but CLASSIC fits the same bill for the Richard Hannon yard. He made his comeback in the Group 3 Greenham at Newbury five weeks ago and was outclassed, but this is more realistic for him.
Selection: Classic @ 12/1 with Betfair
Dettori rides handicap debutant Covey for the Gosdens here and the Frankel colt could have a major say after his wins lately at Newmarket and Newcastle (both 7f). At the prices, BODORGAN is preferred for Charlie Hills and Hollie Doyle. He signed off last season with a clear-cut success in a Newmarket novice and should have plenty more to come this summer.
Selection: Bodorgan @ 11/1 with Betfair
Mondammej hinted at a return to form over course and distance last time and could have a role to play but so too did SOUND OF IONA at Musselburgh 12 days ago. Often a frontrunner, she was held up and caught the eye with some late progress despite traffic problems. With Amie Waugh now taking 5lb off, she has scope in this line-up to go well.
Selection: Sound Of Iona @ 25/1 with Betfair
Little Big Bear is the pick on ratings but has to put behind him a poor attempt in the 2,000 Guineas three weeks ago now that he reverts to sprinting. Winner of the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot last summer, BRADSELL moved ominously well in a Commonwealth Cup Trial at the same track early this month only to show signs of rust late on as he finished third in a race won by today’s rival Cold Case. Archie Watson’s colt can avenge that defeat now.
Selection: Bradsell @ 4/1 with Betfair
MIMIKYU won the Group 2 Park Hill Stakes at Doncaster last September over this sort of distance and very much rates as the one to beat on the strength of that effort over a trip at which she is unexposed. She does have a 5lb penalty to carry though, and that gives hope to the likes of One Evening and Sea Flawless.
Selection: Mimikyu @ 11/10 with Betfair
THE PLATINUM QUEEN had an excellent first season last year, winning four and finishing second twice in her first seven starts, including a silver medal in the Group 1 Nunthorpe at York. Her final outing at the Breeders’ Cup is easily forgiven and she has plenty of scope for better this summer having moved to Roger Varian during the off-season.
Selection: The Platinum Queen @ 10/3 with Betfair
Hi Royal and Royal Scotsman both made the podium in the Newmarket version behind Chaldean and they come here with a good chance for the UK raiders. But PROUD AND REGAL ran well for a long way in a Derby Trial at Leopardstown on his season bow and last year’s National Stakes second could be well suited returning to this mile trip at which he claimed Group 1 glory in France last autumn. He may give Donnacha O’Brien his first Irish Guineas.
Selection: Proud And Regal @ 9/2 with Betfair
