SAGINAW, Mich. – In the first meet of the season, the NMU men’s golf team sits in 4th place of 14 teams at +8 after 18 holes of play at the Al Watrous Invitational.
Northern was led by Arthur Ylitalo who carded a +1 round of 73. He tallied four birdies on the day, with four coming on par 4’s and another on a par 5. The sophomore was -1 on the front nine and is tied for 10th on the individual leaderboard.
Right behind was Russel Sprecher and Eric Yun who each shot rounds of +2 (74). Sprecher notched a pair of birdies while Yun added three himself, including two on the back nine to card a -1 coming in.
Walter Ylitalo rounded out the scoring with a +3 (75). Walter led the Wildcats with five birdies worked into his round of play.
Findlay leads the way after the first 18, holding a team score of -1. Colin Schadek paces the Oilers and the field with a first round of -4 (68).
