The Brooklyn Nets will try to get over .500 this afternoon in Las Vegas when they face the New York Knicks at the Thomas & Mack Center. The Nets dropped to 1-1 two days ago when they lost to the Los Angeles Clippers, 87-78.
There was no dramatic comeback Sunday as there had been when the Nets opened summer league with a dramatic overtime win over the Indiana Pacers on Friday. Brooklyn looked sluggish all around. Keon Johnson supplied the only reliable offense, scoring 27 points, one third of the summer squad’s output. He’s now averaging 21.5 in the Nets first two games. He remains an unrestricted free agent.
Today’s opponent is the New York Knicks. It will be the first game of any kind since the blockbuster trade between the cross river rivals the day before the NBA Draft. Bridges has been in Vegas and sat with his former teammate Trendon Watford during part of the overtime win.
Expect some of the players the Nets didn’t play much in the first two games to get some minutes today. Also, look to see if Dariq Whitehead continues the strong play he showed in the fourth quarter vs. L.A.
This is only the Knicks second game, having lost to the Charlotte Hornets two days ago. Point guard Tyler Kolek, the Big East player of the year last season, and French wing Pacome Dadiet are the Knicks top prospects in Vegas.
