RALEIGH, N.C. — NC State football’s future home-and-home series with Florida is no more.

It was discovered Wednesday the two schools have mutually agreed to cancel the pair of games. The Wolfpack was set to host the Gators at Carter-Finley Stadium Sept. 5, 2026, then travel down to Gainesville to play in Ben Hill Griffin Stadium Oct. 16, 2032. Neither school will pay a cancellation to the other, as per the agreement.

According to a copy of the termination agreement obtained from North Carolina State University via a public records request, the two schools have mutually agreed to cancel the two-game series. Neither school will pay the other a cancellation fee, per the copy of the agreement. NC State has already moved to replace the canceled Florida game in 2026. The Wolfpack announced in May that they had scheduled a home-and-home football series with fellow ACC member Virginia for 2025 and 2026, with both games played as non-conference contests.

It’s a frustrating loss for Wolfpack fans who had hoped to have an SEC opponent come to Carter-Finley Stadium in less than two years and truly bolster the Pack’s non-conference schedule. Instead, it will be replaced by an ACC opponent that was previously announced to very little fanfare from Wolfpack Nation.

The change comes as another move to make room for a non-conference home-and-home with Virginia slated for 2025 and 2026. Earlier this year NC State axed the away half of a home-and-home with App State previously set for 2025, citing encouragement from the ACC to schedule more power 4 opponents, but now its seems no major non-conference games are safe.

With this latest change, the Pack’s non-conference opponents for 2026 include home games against Richmond and App State as well as away games at Vanderbilt and Virginia. The dates against the Spiders, Commodores and Mountaineers are set for Sept. 12, 19 and 26, respectively, with no date yet announced for the Cavaliers.
