The Philadelphia Eagles’ official X account trolled the Green Bay Packers on Friday night following their season-opening game in Brazil.
In the wake of Philly holding on to win 34-29, the Eagles’ X account made a post featuring cheeseheads being melted down for use on a cheesesteak:
Of course, Green Bay’s fans are known as the cheeseheads, and many of them wear cheese-themed headgear to the Packers’ games.
Friday’s clash at Arena Corinthians in São Paulo was the first NFL game ever played in Brazil, and while it was marred at times by poor field conditions, the Eagles and Packers still managed to put on a great show.
It was a back-and-forth game with eight lead changes and a ton of offense, as the teams combined for over 800 total yards.
Making his regular-season debut with the Eagles, running back Saquon Barkley was the primary star of the show, rushing 24 times for 109 yards and making two catches for 23 yards, while scoring three total touchdowns.
Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts also had a solid performance with 278 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions through the air, while wide receiver A.J. Brown had five receptions for 119 yards and one score.
The Packers were also efficient on offense, led by quarterback Jordan Love, who went 17-of-34 for 260 yards, two touchdowns and one pick. His leading playmaker was Jayden Reed, who caught four passes for 138 yards and a touchdown, and also rushed once for a 33-yard touchdown.
The game was a battle between two teams that reached the NFC playoffs via the wild card last season, although they did so in very different ways.
Philadelphia limped into the playoffs by losing five of its final six games, and it was destroyed 32-9 by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Wild Card Round.
Conversely, Love hit his stride in his first year as a starter down the stretch, leading the Packers to wins in each of their final three games.
Green Bay also shocked the second-seeded Dallas Cowboys on the road in the Wild Card Round before narrowly falling to the eventual NFC champion San Francisco 49ers in the Divisional Round.
It is a new season, though, and the Eagles now have momentum on their side, while the Packers must find a way to bounce back.
Unfortunately for Green Bay, there are question marks surrounding the health of its star quarterback, as Love left the game on the Packers’ second-to-last play after seemingly suffering a leg injury.
