Emil Lahaziel, 39, was ‘gunned down’ while attending a ‘crazy poker game’ at the Hollywood Hills West home of a friend June 7 – before he was brutally murdered.
The incident took place just after 2am on Wednesday morning and was observed by DeVine and his wife, Chloe Bridges, as they watched the night unfold from the balcony of their $2.6 million mansion.
DeVine described the horrific murder in great detail on the ‘This Is Important’ podcast later that same day.
The father-of-five was described by family as a doting father and often posted pictures of his lavish lifestyle with his family in Miami.

Lahaziel had been living in Miami, Florida for the past eight and a half years according to his father – but hailed from Ashkelon, a coastal city in the southern district of Israel
‘People were rolling up in like Lamborghinis and Bentleys and Rolls Royces and s**t and like old guys, who for sure f**k prostitutes and play cards,’ he claimed.
‘And I see these dudes and it’s like fun to sit and watch, [so] me and my wife, we’re sitting up on our balcony, and like, this looks crazy.
Adding: ‘This is where it gets sad. Someone was murdered there.’
Lahaziel was later identified by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner.
He appeared to be a doting father-of-five who wasn’t afraid to flash his wealth with images of private jets and sparkling blue poolside shots posted across Instagram.
In the wake of Lahaziel’s death his wife was seen posting images of the couple’s life together.

A day later, Cohen confirmed Lahaziel’s death, posting a notice for the 39-year-old’s funeral to be held at Mount Sinai Memorial Park Cemetery June 9.
‘We regrettably inform that we will be honoring the passing of Emil Lahaziel, son of Yaacov & Golda, husband to Lily, father to Dor, Rom, Liv, Leo & Leni,’ it reads.
In a post on Instagram the mother-of-three posted a picture of herself and Lahaziel with the caption in Hebrew, translated it reads: ‘Rest in peace Emil. May you know no more sorrow, be strong my soul.’

Israeli news website Ynet spoke to Lahaziel’s father, Yaacov, who said he and Cohen were desperate for answers after the tragic death.
‘I don’t know what exactly happened there, neither does his wife. I didn’t hear that he had conflicts with people,’ he said.
The outlet reports that Lahaziel was originally a resident of Ashkelon, a coastal city in the southern district of Israel, but had been living in Miami for eight and a half years.
‘Emil is my eldest son, he lives in Miami and goes to meetings in Los Angeles and meets people he knew there,’ Yaacov said.
‘Emil loved his family and took care of them, he was a child who had achievements in life. It is true that he also had falls, but he knew how to get up.

Yaacov said that he had been in contact with Cohen who had ‘insisted’ on burying Lahaziel in Miami.
‘We are all in shock, no one knows what happened, there are many versions. I understand that he met there with people he knew, but beyond that I have no idea,’ he said.
The only eyewitness to come out about the horror shooting, thus far, has been DeVine.
‘This is a true scary thing that just happened. So across the street they were running this like crazy poker game, right?’ he said.
Despite his co-host’s Blake Anderson, Anders Holm and Kyle Newacheck’s, obvious discomfort, Adam DeVine launched into the moments leading up to Lahaziel’s murder as part of the ‘This Is Important’ podcast live show
DeVine revealed how he and his wife Chloe Bridges watched Lahaziel ‘gunned down’ outside their neighbors $1.8 million home
‘People were rolling up in like Lamborghinis and Bentleys and Rolls Royce’s and s**t and like old guys, who for sure f**k prostitutes and play cards.
‘And I see these dudes and it’s like fun to sit and watch, [so] me and my wife, we’re sitting up on our balcony, and like, this looks crazy.’
DeVine then pauses telling the audience ‘this is where it gets sad.’
‘Someone was murdered there,’ he continues, before Anderson asks him to repeat what he said but with the added effect of a sinister sound byte.
‘Someone was murdered,’ he repeats, as Newacheck responds ‘that’s a downer.’
‘Yeah dude, I called that s**t I called that s**t. I was like ‘this is dastardly s**t going down here’ and sure enough someone is gunned down,’ he continued.
Police said a suspect fled the scene and is still on the loose. No description was given and a motive for the killing is still unclear, investigators said
DeVine made his name alongside co-stars Blake Anderson, Anders Holm and Kyle Newacheck’s in Workaholics and played a bumper role in the Pitch Perfect franchise – he recounted the horrors of June 7 during their live podcast event
‘That is sad,’ Newacheck responds, when Holm quickly adds ‘Yeah a real person, no longer with us.’
‘Yeah but, that happens, people be dying,’ said DeVine defending his retelling of the deadly shooting. This isn’t Hollywood, this is a story about my actual life.’
‘I mean its pretty Hollywood, you’re like ‘I guess I live places where people get murdered pretty cool,” Holm says before the group quickly change the subject.
Police said a suspect fled the scene and is still on the loose. No description was given and a motive for the killing is still unclear, investigators said.
They believe he may have run off and got into a waiting vehicle, and said they do not think it is gang-related.
