Not only is the EPCAN Food Bank open, we are still serving our local clients in need.
The Plumas Crisis Intervention and Resource Center (PCIRC) announcement yesterday, in Plumas News, of its temporary closing of the Portola Family Resource Center (PFRC) is both ill-timed and a blow to the needs of the local Portola community.
What the brief statement did not make clear is that the pre-registration and qualification for individual and family food services, previously provided by the PFRC, will now be provided directly to clients by EPCAN, located at 120 Nevada Street in Portola. Our open hours are:
Mondays or Wednesdays from 9:30 – 11:30 a.m.; or Thursdays Noon – 2 p.m.
As easy as one, two, three, individuals seeking “Blue Slips” for monthly food allotments may now just head to EPCAN during our regular open hours, according to the EPCAN Board of Directors. We hope that this clarifies what the earlier announcement failed to mention.
