Ed Quigley aka ‘Longshot Ted’ was amongst the winners once again over the weekend, and he is back with his best bets for Tuesday’s action…

Uttoxeter 3.45 – Judge Earl each-way

The father and son combination of Peter and Sean Bowen team up here with JUDGE EARL, who despite his advancing years, can get in the mix and looks to have each-way claims in the 3m Handicap Chase.

He was below par when last seen when finishing down the field at Worcester last month having a spin over Hurdles, but should be much more suited returning to the larger obstacles and returning this venue – a track in which the gelding has a smart record of three wins and one place-effort from just the six starts at the track.

That included, most recently, a 28-length demolition of his rivals back in July. He looks the each-way angle in a trappy encounter where any rain arriving shouldn’t be an inconvenience given his versatility in regards to underfoot requirements.

Yarmouth 5.10 – Band Of Steel each-way

BAND OF STEEL has been a little disappointing in recent events, but drops in trip which should suit this free-going sort, as well as coming into this off a career-low mark of 80.

This unexposed 3-year-old is still relatively lightly-raced, so could easily have more to offer as he learns to mature and settle. The son of Golden Horn was last seen when finishing fifth over 1m3f on the artificial surface at Kempton, where once again pulling too hard throughout the contest.

The form of that race is working out well, and If dropping the bit, it would be far from a surprise if he had managed to get in the shake-up here. David Egan will be in the saddle to try and get this tricky customer to switch off and the Sean Woods representative can land a blow here in a wide-open looking encounter.

Redcar 5.20 – Lincoln Rockstar each-way

I will be waiting until the 5.20 to get involved at Redcar, where I am most interested in the David O’Meara trained LINCOLN ROCKSTAR, who has shaped as though she will relish a proper test of stamina these days, and steps up in distance to 1m6f for the first time.

The daughter of Churchill has arguably been a little disappointing in recent times, with just the one career win to date – but that came at this venue a year ago on her only previous visit to the track.

She showed a return to form when beaten a length into third at Ripon over 12f last time out, where the ineffective visor that was applied at Beverley on her penultimate start was left off.

There could easily be more in the locker off a mark of 55 now she stretches out on distance to this trip for the first time. Cut in the ground will pose no issue for the 3-year-old, so if the rains do arrive that may actually help, as this will turn this into a proper war of attrition.

Jason Watson takes the ride and I don’t think the combination will be far away.
