Welcome to the Uni Watch 2024 NFL Uniform Preview.
This season will feature a plethora of new uniforms and helmets, including four teams who have completely redesigned their uniforms for the 2024 season: the New York Jets, the Denver Broncos, the Detroit Lions and the Houston Texans. Several teams have added new uniforms to their rotations, while others have added new sets of pants. One team changed only its wordmark (which counts as a redesign), while another simply changed up the color of its facemasks.
In 2022, the NFL rescinded its “one-shell” rule, allowing teams to have two different color helmets. Those helmets are not restricted to throwbacks; teams can (and do) use helmets to pair with alternate jerseys as well. Teams who redesigned for 2024 will be permitted to have three different color shells, while the remaining teams can add a third helmet beginning in 2025.
Including the four teams who redesigned, there will be 13 new alternate helmets for 2024. Some of these will be worn with new alternate or throwback uniforms introduced for 2024, while others will be paired with existing uniforms.
In short, 2024 provided a uniform and helmet bonanza.
The Uni Watch 2024 NFL Preview is divided into eight sections: one for each Division. Click on the link below each section for a look at all the uniform and helmet changes for each team.
Three of the four teams in the AFC East — the Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins and New England Patriots — have no uniform changes for the 2024 NFL Season. But that’s OK, because the New York Jets make up for the entire division, with new primary, alternate and throwback uniforms.
Three of the four teams in the AFC North will have changes to their 2024 uniform lineups: The Ravens, the Bengals and the Browns. None of these changes are major overhauls, but include a new helmet, new pants and a new helmet finish and facemask color, respectively. The Pittsburgh Steelers are the only club to have no announced changes at all for 2024.
There are four teams in the AFC South: the Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts, Jacksonville Jaguars and Tennessee Titans. The Texans completely redesigned for the 2024 season and will feature four new uniforms, while the Jaguars have introduced a 1998 throwback and a new white helmet.
There are four teams in the AFC West: the Denver Broncos, Kansas City Chiefs, Las Vegas Raiders, and Los Angeles Chargers. The Chiefs and Raiders — two of the most traditional uniform teams in the league — will once again stick with their classic uniforms. The Chargers are actually eliminating a uniform, and the Broncos … well, the Broncos have introduced a uniform redesign, featuring completely new uniforms, plus a fantastic throwback.
The NFC East is comprised of the Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants, Philadelphia Eagles and the Washington Commanders. Three of the four teams have pretty big uniform changes — the Giants have added a new multi-year throwback, the Eagles have technically redesigned their uniforms (and will wear a never-before-worn uniform combination for a home game in Brazil), while the Commanders have added a new set of pants that should make a huge difference in their uni-look.
The four teams in the NFC North are the Chicago Bears, Detroit Lions, Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Vikings. Three of the four teams will have major uniform additions this year, including a full new uniform redesign for the Lions.
The NFC South is comprised of the Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers, New Orleans Saints and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. While none of the teams in this division have announced any uniform changes for 2024, there is still plenty of uni goodness in the Division, including three teams with fantastic throwbacks.
The NFC West is comprised of the Arizona Cardinals, Los Angeles Rams, San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks. While none of these teams have announced any uniform changes for 2024, there’s still plenty of uni news for each team.
