Gary Dee Jensen (1950 to 2024) passed away on December 13, 2024 at his home in Fairview, Utah at the age of 74. Gary was born November 25, 1950 at the Mount Pleasant Hospital to Merril Dee and Lynn Mae Mower Jensen. Gary was the first child of three children, followed by Janet and Ruth.
He grew up in Terra, Utah. He graduated from Dugway High School in May 1968. Gary attended Snow College in Ephraim and the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. He worked various jobs in Salt Lake and Ogden before moving to Fairview, Utah to help his mother take care of his dad until his dad’s passing.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Following covid he became active in the church and was ordained an elder in November 2023. Just this past June he went to the temple to receive his endowment.
Gary’s favorite thing was rock hunting. He loved to go geode hunting out in the desert, spending nights under the stars. With some of the rocks, he would grind them down into balls and then polish them. They were beautiful.
He also loved skiing, both snow skiing and cross-country skiing. He was an excellent down-hill skier, often skiing in shorts. He also loved to explore the mountains while cross-country skiing, often taking beautiful photographs of the outdoors. He also loved spending time in the outdoors hunting and fishing.
Gary is survived by his sister, Janet Belcher, his brother-in-law, Tom Clyde and his nieces and nephews, Elisha Gaviglio, Brian Kenney, Shelley Grattan, Seana Grattan, Nikki Kenney, Sandy Grattan, Susan Grattan. He loved his nieces and nephews very much. Gary was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Ruth Clyde and his niece and nephew, Andrea Clyde and Nathan Clyde.
Funeral services were held December 21, 2024 at noon at the Fairview Fourth Ward Chapel at 125 South State Street, Fairview, UT with a visitation starting at 11 a.m. Interment in the Fairview City Cemetery. Online condolence at rasmussenmortuary.com.
