COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – Aggies will soon return to College Station for the fall semester, and Amstad Turn Co. is one of many companies working to prepare student housing for their arrival. The company has been preparing units at The Barracks Townhomes for students to move in beginning later this week.
Late Sunday, Amstad’s equipment at the student housing complex was vandalized, and, according to the company, four golf carts used while preparing properties were destroyed. Amstad said several people used the golf carts for late-night joy rides after breaking into a house and stealing keys.
Security footage from late Sunday shows several men recklessly driving the golf carts, which were left upside down and abandoned.
The owner of Amstad Turn Co., Jasen Coots, says he’s frustrated and just wants to find out who’s responsible.
“To pay for a couple of golf carts is one thing, but breaking and entering, vandalism, all the other charges that comes along with it, ‘Coots said. “It’s just not worth it.”
The total cost of damages is estimated from $20,000 to $40,000.
