CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Charleston Southern men’s and women’s golf team will have a new assistant coach, as Chan Metts announced the hiring of Ben Carroll on Tuesday afternoon.
Carroll joins second-year Head Coach Chan Metts after a stellar five-year career with the Buccaneers. He will assist the men’s golf team as well as the women’s golf team that is looking to defend its Big South championship and go back to the NCAA Tournament.
Carroll began his career at Charleston Southern in the fall of 2019 and was named Freshman of the Year in the Big South in the spring of 2021. He was a Big South Honorable mention twice 204 as well as in 2022, when he helped lead the Bucs to a Big South title and an appearance in the NCAA Regional Qualifiers in Palm Beach, FL.
His best year came in 2022-23, when he was named First-Team All-Big South, helping the Buccaneers reach the Big South championship.
Carroll received a business administration degree with a focus in management in December of 2023 from Charleston Southern. He is a native of Blacksburg, VA.
