STAFFORD, Texas — North American University has announced that it is discontinuing its football program, a decision supported by the university’s Board of Trustees as part of a strategic shift in investment.
NAU Athletic Director and Head Football Coach Kenneth Apande said the move was made after careful deliberation.
“This was a difficult decision, backed by the Board of Trustees, that aims to direct investment to the things that make North American University exceptional,” Apande said. “Our goal is to still compete in the eight NAIA and USCAA sports that will remain an integral part of the NAU experience.”
The Stallions football program finished with an overall record of six wins and 27 losses across three seasons based on their website. They competed in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
NAU officials said they remain committed to excellence in their remaining athletic programs, focusing on competition, academics, and character development.
The university thanked players, coaches, staff, and supporters of the football program, stating that the program’s legacy will continue to inspire the NAU community.
