The AI-powered Toyota CUE6 just set a new Guinness World Record for making the farthest basketball shot by a humanoid robot from a distance of 24.55 m (80 ft 6 in). Just for reference, an official NBA court measures approximately 29 m (94 ft) long.
Thanks to AI algorithms, CUE6 is capable of learning from his mistakes and automatically adapt his aim for a better shot. This means that he can be trained to recognize patterns and even correct his posture, arm position as well as shot strength in real-time, just like a human athlete. If this humanoid robot looks familiar that’s because it also set the record for most consecutive basketball free throws by a humanoid robot (assisted) by sinking 2,020 shots in a row.
