MONROE, La. (KNOE) – Former Union Parish football standout and LSU running back Trey Holly is set to go to trial on July 7.
Initially charged with attempted second-degree murder in connection to a February 2024 shooting, the grand jury dismissed that charge in April 2024.
However, Holly still faces charges of illegal use of a weapon and aggravated criminal damage to property. A judge scheduled two pretrial hearings leading up to the trial, set for May 21 and June 25.
Since his arrest, Holly has been suspended from LSU’s football team.
Before the incident, he was considered one of the top high school running backs in Louisiana history, holding the state record for most career rushing yards.
This is a developing story. Stay tuned to KNOE for updates.
