HATTIESBURG, Miss. (WDAM) – The opening of spring football at the University of Southern Mississippi is beckoning to the Golden Eagle faithful like a reward at the end of a black-and-gold rainbow.
USM will usher in the Charles Huff Era on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17, with the Spring Game set for April 12.
Meanwhile, the Golden Eagles recently rounded out its schedule for the 2025 football season, adding an intrastate foe to polish off the non-conference portion for the upcoming fall.
USM announced that it will host Jackson State University on Sept. 6 at M.M. Roberts Stadium.
The game marks the fourth meeting on a football field between the two schools, with the last coming in 2018. USM has won the three, previous contests.
The Golden Eagles open the 2025 football season on Aug. 30, welcoming Mississippi State University to Hattiesburg.
USM also will host Jacksonville State University on Sept. 27, a week after visiting long-time foe, Louisiana Tech University, at Joe Aillet Stadium in Ruston, Louisiana, on Sept. 20.
The JSU game means USM will play seven times in Hattiesburg, including a quartet of Sun Belt Conference football games.
Kickoff times for the 12-game schedule are pending.
Dates for the Sun Belt portion of the schedule have yet to be announced, but USM does know what schools it will and what oppoenets it will visit.
