Alabama football is down another defensive back following the 2025 season. King Mack is entering the transfer portal, he announced on social media Friday, in conjunction with Hayes Fawcett of On3.
Mack joined the Crimson Tide in the spring, transferring in from Penn State. He will have two years of eligibility remaining at his next destination.
As a sophomore, Mack played in 12 of Alabama’s 13 games this season. He finished the season with 14 total tackles.
The 5-foot-10, 206-pound Miami native earned praise from Alabama’s staff entering the season.
“He’s a very fast individual,” UA defensive coordinator Kane Wommack said in August. “Very physical, he’s got some really good instincts. He seems to be really making plays on the ball. I would say when we go scrimmage-like situations he tends to elevate his game. I don’t know if you call the word a ‘gamer’ or whatever it may be, right, but I think he’s a very instinctive football player. I’ve been very pleased with how he’s taken to the defense.:
Mack spent his freshman season at Penn State, after joining as a four-star prospect in the 2023 recruiting class. He played in 13 games that year, mostly contributing on special teams for the Nittany Lions.
Alabama players can enter the portal for five days following the Crimson Tide’s bowl loss to Michigan. The ReliaQuest Bowl was played on Tuesday.
Mack joined Jahlil Hurley and DeVonta Smith as Alabama defensive backs who have entered the portal since the end of the regular season. He was the first to enter in the post-bowl window.
