A member of one of Louisiana’s most famous sports families is one of the newest members of Augusta National Golf Club, home of the Masters tournament.
New Orleans native and former NFL and Ole Miss quarterback Eli Manning has been invited to join the legendary golf club, according to a report from Sports Business Journal.
Manning, who retired in 2019, now co-hosts a Monday Night Football telecast with his brother, former NFL quarterback Payton Manning. He reportedly became a member at Augusta National in 2016.
Eli Manning will join three other new members at Augusta according to the report. The others are Sean McManus, recently retired as chairman of CBS Sports; Amazon CEO Andy Jassy; and Delta Airlines CEO Ed Bastian.
There was no official statement about new members from Augusta National, which is famously private about virtually all matters related to the club. But the Mannings are believed to be the only current members at Augusta National from Louisiana.
Eli Manning, 43, who lives in suburban New Jersey near New York, is already a member of another famous golf club in that state: Pine Valley. That club was ranked as the No. 1 course in America in 2023 by Golf Digest, with Augusta National ranking No. 2.
A first-round draft pick in 2004 out of Ole Miss by the then San Diego Chargers, Manning was quickly traded and played his entire 16-year NFL career with the New York Giants, throwing for more than 57,000 yards and 366 touchdowns.
He led the Giants to a pair of Super Bowl victories, both over the New England Patriots, in Super Bowl XLII in 2008 and Super Bowl XLVI four years later.
In September, Manning was named a first-time nominee for the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The hall’s Class of 2025 will be announced Super Bowl weekend in February in New Orleans, which is hosting the NFL’s championship game for a record-tying 11th time.
The 2025 Masters will be April 10-13.
