Graded-stakes winner Beatbox, a Pioneerof the Nile half-brother to multiple Grade 1 winner and Eclipse Awards finalist Guarana, was retired from racing. The 6-year-old horse will be offered as a stallion prospect at the 2024 Keeneland November breeding stock sale.

Consigned by Lane’s End as hip 3083, the dual-surface winner will be available for pre-sale inspection in Barn 6. He enters the auction ring on Nov. 12.

Bred in Kentucky by Three Chimneys Farm and originally sold for $2.1 million as a highly regarded Keeneland September yearling, Beatbox won six of 20 career starts from ages 3 to 6, topped by the 2024 Fair Grounds Stakes (G3) at 1 1/8 miles on turf at Fair Grounds and the 2022 Dust Commander Stakes at 1 1/16 miles on Turfway Park’s all-weather course. He tallied an additional three stakes placings in Kentucky and Louisiana and earned $427,248 overall.

“Beatbox is the type of horse you love to train,” conditioner Cherie DeVaux said, who saddled the two-turn specialist for owners Jeff Ganje and Rob Comestro. “He was solid and consistent in his races, and a joy around the barn.”

As a son of multiple Grade 1 winner Pioneerof the Nile, the late sire of 2015 Triple Crown winner American Pharoah, Beatbox offers stallion credentials on both sides of his pedigree.

He is one of three graded-stakes performers for his dam, Magical World. A winning daughter of Distorted Humor out of 2005 Breeders’ Cup Distaff (G1) winner Pleasant Home, Magical World topped the 2021 Fasig-Tipton November sale on a final bid of $5.2 million after her talented daughter Guarana won three Grade 1 races and a coveted position as one of three finalists for the 2019 Eclipse Award as champion 3-year-old filly.

Beatbox’s immediate family members include the Grade 1-winning sires Violence, Point of Entry and Tale of Ekati as well as champion runners Dayjur and Sky Beauty.

“Beatbox had a little setback in training, so our team collectively felt it was time to retire him,” said Ganje, who also campaigns the current graded-stakes winner and $1,104,757 earner Shotgun Hottie with DeVaux. “We believe he is an outstanding and well-rounded stallion prospect, and we are excited to point him toward this next stage of his progression.”
