University of Miami head men’s basketball coach Jim Larrañaga announced Wednesday a reorganization of the men’s basketball coaching staff.
Joe Gimbel has been elevated to Assistant Coach / Head Video Director, while Peter Matthews will serve as the Director of Recruiting.
Gimbel joined the men’s basketball staff in October of 2021 as the associate director of basketball operations.
He then moved into the head video coordinator position where he handled the program’s video related responsibilities, including organizing film into scout edits, creating scouting reports and managing film exchange.
Matthews spent the past two seasons as a graduate assistant with the men’s basketball program before being elevated to a full-time role this summer. As the Director of Recruiting, Matthews will be heavily involved in the Hurricanes’ recruiting efforts, coordinating travel logistics and official and unofficial visits.
Both Gimbel and Matthews were instrumental to the program during the Hurricanes’ Final Four run in 2022-23.
