Ons Jabeur named two of the world’s best tennis players as the most intimidating to play against.
The Tunisian is a former top 10 player and a three-time Grand Slam runner-up who has played against WTA Tour’s top players on numerous occasions.
Ons Jabeur has achieved varying degrees of success against them, and she is certainly a player who is a difficult challenge for any of her opponents.
But as is the case with most competitors, there are particular opponents who possess certain qualities that make them harder to beat, and Jabeur has hess.
Jabeur intimidates opponents with her trickery and artistry on the court, especially with her deft drop shots.
But during an appearance on the Nothing Major podcast, the 30-year-old mentioned the two players she thinks are the most intimidating on the tour.
She named Iga Swiatek and Coco Gauff, two of the top three players on the WTA Tour who are both Grand Slam champions.
“There is a lot. I think Iga is a pretty solid player,” Jabeur said when explaining the reasons for her choices.”
The three-time Grand Slam runner-up added: “She does not give you any free points which is kind of difficult to play against that.
“Coco is really amazing too, she plays unbelievable tennis. There are a lot of solid players where you have to be if not 100% close to it to play on that day.”
Jabeur has struggled against both Swiatek and Gauff during her career.
The World number 34 has played Swiatek, the reigning French Open champion, on seven occasions, and has just two wins.
They both came in 2021, first at the Wimbledon Championships and then the Cincinnati Masters, the year before Swiatek went on a record-breaking run and became the World number one for the first time.
Jabeur has faced Gauff eight times, and has emerged victorious just twice, the first of which came at the 2021 Charleston Open.
The second came at the 2022 Berlin Open semi-finals, Jabeur claimed a 7-6, 6-2 victory to move into the final, where she claimed the title.
