Qatar Chamber has held a business meeting with the Polish Chamber of Commerce at the latter’s headquarters in Warsaw.

Qatar Chamber chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim al-Thani led the delegation, which included first vice-chairman Mohamed bin Towar al-Kuwari and several Qatari businessmen. Polish Chamber of Commerce (PCC) president Dr Marek Kłoczko led the Polish side during the meeting.

Both chambers discussed trade relations and ways to enhance this in various sectors, as well as co-operation between both chambers. They also reviewed the investment climate and opportunities available in Qatar and Poland.

On the sidelines of the meeting, co-operation agreements were signed between Qatari company Anchorage Offshore and three Polish companies. For the Qatari side, the agreements were signed by Sheikh Mohamed bin Hamad al-Thani, chairman of Anchorage Offshore Company.

Qatar Chamber also participated in the fifth edition of the ‘Qatari-Polish New Technology Forum’, where Sheikh Khalifa stressed the keenness of Qatar’s private sector in strengthening co-operation with its Polish counterpart, underscoring the common desire to establish trade alliances.

Sheikh Khalifa emphasised the importance of activating the joint Qatari-Polish Business Council to play its role in following up and supporting co-operation between business sectors in both friendly countries.

He called on Polish companies to invest in Qatar, with its position as a leading global centre for business and investment amid world-class infrastructure, a conducive business environment, and a set of economic legislation to spur investment growth.

Sheikh Khalifa said Qatar and Poland are associated with robust and rapidly growing relations, covering numerous fields and sectors. He noted that 2016 represented a unique turning point in trade relations between the two countries when Qatar began delivering LNG to Poland following the opening of the Swinoujscie LNG receiving terminal in the Baltic Sea.

He said trade exchange witnessed a remarkable 80% growth in the past three years, reaching a value of QR4.81bn Qatari riyals in 2023 from QR2.65bn in 2020, making Poland an important trade partner to Qatar.

Many Polish companies are operating in the Qatari market in various economic sectors, Sheikh Khalifa stressed, adding that there are various Qatari investments in Poland, especially in the real estate sector.

The forum also reviewed the commercial and investment opportunities available in both countries, especially in the technological field. The discussion sessions also addressed opportunities for technological and economic co-operation between the two countries and learning about the practical aspects of doing business in Qatar.
