The Qatar Skydive Team of the Qatar Joint Special Forces’s Air Sports Committee (QASC) won the bronze medal in the CISM World Military Parachuting Championship, held in Hungary, from July 2-12 with the participation of 33 countries.

The Qatar squad was ranked third in skydiving, behind Belgium’s team at first rank and the US in the second place.

The Qatar national team participated in both the quadruple cohesion and target teams, winning the bronze medal after intense competition from all participating teams.

The Commander of the Joint Special Forces and president of the Qatar Air Sports Committee, HE Major-General Jassim bin Ali al-Attiyah, lauded the accomplishments by the Qatar team in the international tournament.

He added that the milestones in the air sports have been achieved by virtue of the unwavering support from the wise leadership.

In concluding his remarks, HE Major-General al-Attiyah said that he looks forward to further achievements in the coming tournaments.

QASC vice-chairperson Lieutenant-Colonel Abdullah Saeed al-Mansouri said that he is delighted with this achievement, which came following fierce competition among the contestants.

He said that this milestone was achieved thanks to the support received by the team, along with their perseverance and determination to hold Qatar’s flag aloft in victory.

QASC secretary-general Captain Haza’a Hamad al-Attiyah said that the technical level of the contestants was high throughout the tournament.

Captain and leader of the cohesion quadruple parachuting team, First Lieutenant Hamad al-Marri, said that the desire among the skydivers to achieve first place and win the gold medal was extraordinarily strong, but they could not achieve that due to extremely fierce competition.

Overall, he said, securing third place was still a significant achievement, considering the presence of elite skydivers from around the world.
