The state of Louisiana is swarming with college football talent and the Louisiana Sports Writers Association highlights those star athletes every year with the All-Louisiana LSWA College Football Team.
On Jan. 2, LSWA released its 2024 All-Louisiana honorees which feature the cream of the crop hailing from Louisiana football. Cajun Country got to witness a stellar season filled with athletes who have become household names in Lafayette Parish.
Headlining the All-Louisiana honors is UL football head coach Michael Desormeaux, who was named the LSWA’s Coach of the Year. This marks Desormeaux’s second Coach of the Year award of the season after being named the 2024 Sun Belt Conference Coach of the Year. In his third year at the helm of the Cajuns, he led the squad to a 10-win season, the only Louisiana college football team to do so.
Desoremaux recently signed a new five-year deal with UL locking him with the Cajuns until at least the 2029 season. Along with him, other notable Cajuns from this year earned recognition. SBC Offensive Player of the Year quarterback Ben Wooldridge came in second place in voting for the All-Louisiana Offensive Player of the Year receiving 8.5 votes. Wooldridge finished the season throwing for nearly 2,500 yards and 17 touchdowns despite missing three games.
The All-Louisiana first-team kicker this year is also from Lafayette in 2024 Lou Groza winner Kenneth Almendares. The senior kicker set a handful of records in his final season as a Cajun finishing with 28 out of 31 field goal attempts and a long of 53 yards.
Here is the complete list of the Cajuns who made the first and second All-Lousiana College Football teams after the 2024 college football season.
