EDMOND — Here are three takeaways from Woodland’s 58-23 win over Talihina in the Class A-II state championship game in the Oklahoma high school football playoffs on Friday night.
Player of the game: Trey Bennett. Woodland’s star quarterback was stellar while leading the program to its first state title since 2010. Bennett completed 10 of 11 passes for 155 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for 100 yards and three touchdowns.
Key moment: As Talihina aimed to spark a comeback, their hopes were halted after Bennett scored on a 10-yard touchdown run to open the second half. The score cushioned Woodland’s lead before Talihina put 23 points on the board and helped lead to the win.
Read option: Tailback Jaston Terry also had a good day in the backfield, rushing for 118 yards and two touchdowns in addition to 55 receiving yards. Dray Long also rushed for 88 yards and a touchdown in the win. Woodland out-rushed Talihina 323-19.

It was all Woodland in the first half, as they’ve shut out Talihina early. Whatever quarterback Trey Bennett has wanted, he’s earned on the ground and through the air. Bennett has completed 8 of 9 passes for 96 yards and a touchdown while producing nine carries for 42 yards and two additional scores. Meanwhile, Talihina quarterback Landen Griffin has only completed three of 12 passes for 42 yards and an interception.
