Vikings rookie first-round QB J.J. McCarthy to miss practice with knee soreness
McCarthy, the No. 10 overall pick of the 2024 NFL Draft, made his preseason debut Saturday in a 24-23 win against the Las Vegas Raiders in which he completed 11 of 17 passes for 188 yards, two touchdowns, an interception and a 116.8 rating.
On Saturday, Sam Darnold got the start, but McCarthy, 21, was due to get some run with the first-teamers on Monday and in joint practices against the Cleveland Browns this week. How McCarthy’s tests come back will determine whether he practices at Cleveland.
The Vikings face the host Browns in Week 2 of preseason action on Saturday. Whether McCarthy will return to action is now to be determined.
